The International Centre for Philosophy NRW (IZPH) is organising a conference on
the topic “Nature, Philosophy, Metaphysics”. The conference will bring together
philosophers from German and Japanese universities in order to tackle the
challenges that face philosophy in the 21st century. Drawing on
contemporary and historical perspectives, the conference will focus primarily
on the complex of problems surrounding the concepts of nature and technology, especially
as they bear on freedom and the human lifeform. A new global metaphysics and
ontology is possible only if thinkers from both East and West address these key
questions together.
